Barnabas Church Mentoring

Barnabas Church Mentoring is a ministry of Priority Living, Inc., Newport Beach, Calif. Founded by Bob Shank in 1984, Priority Living has communicated biblical values with relevance to thousands of marketplace professionals and ministry leaders.

The team at Barnabas Church Mentoring includes senior pastors and executive pastors who are seasoned veterans with significant experience leading churches with a weekly attendance of more than 800 people.

Barnabas mentors aspire to be like the Barnabas in the Bible:
 •  Barnabas was called by God
 •  Barnabas was widely known as an encourager
 •  Barnabas was a connector, bringing Paul to the apostles
 •  Barnabas was a gifted teacher

Warren Schuh serves as managing partner of Barnabas Church Mentoring. He has been involved in various levels of church leadership almost all his life. His father was a solo pastor in smaller churches during Warren’s growing-up years. During college and seminary, he was involved and served in large, multi-staff churches in Chicago and Boston.

His pastoral responsibilities over 30 years in four different churches have included:
 •  Junior High Ministry
 •  Minister of Education
 •  Associate Pastor
 •  Adult Ministries/Discipleship/Small Groups
 •  Executive Pastor

He’s served four different churches ranging in size from 500 to 4,000 and helped design and implement plans for growth in all of them. Every church he’s served required some degree of organizational restructuring for both effectiveness and efficiency. In one case (a church of 4,000), he was responsible for designing and implementing a complete reorganization of the ministry team and significant staff realignment with vision and philosophy of ministry.

All of Warren’s ministry life has been marked by a heart for teams and a strong mentoring/personal development bent. For four years, he was Director of Large Church Networks for Leadership Network. This afforded him the opportunity to travel throughout North America observing the most vibrant and innovative large churches and creating learning/networking opportunities for their leaders.

Consequently Warren has an unusual understanding of the variety of ways churches have structured to support their vision and values. His current ministry of coaching and consulting provides an opportunity for his years of experience/learning/team building to assist churches and individuals to focus their lives and ministries toward greater effectiveness for the sake of God's Kingdom.
